Activity Guide for Grünerløkka Community House
Activity Guide for Grünerløkka Community House – A Service Design Process
As part of a service design project, we developed a proposal for an activity guide for Grünerløkka Community House in collaboration with the City of Oslo. The goal was to make it easier for people to organize activities and to engage more international volunteers.
Through research that included interviews, workshops and user testing, we identified challenges related to visibility, accessibility and navigation in Norwegian systems. Based on these insights, we created a user friendly guide that shows step by step how to initiate and carry out events. The solution includes digital tools, multilingual adaptation and a clear follow up process for recruiting volunteers.
This project gave valuable experience in user research, service design and inclusive design, and shows how well designed solutions can strengthen communities and increase participation in local activities.

THE VISA ASSISTANT FOR STUDENTS ABROAD
A digital step by step guide that helps students navigate the visa application process when studying abroad. The service brings together all relevant
information in one place, connects to necessary third party services, and provides a clear overview of required documents, requirements, and deadlines.
The project is currently in ongoing collaboration with Association of Norwegian Students Abroad, helping norwegian students navigate their visa process.
Futti Krutti Neighborhood Festival – Service Design in Practice
As part of my first year at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO), I took part in the development and execution of the Futti Krutti Neighborhood Festival, an interdisciplinary project that combines service design, urban development and collaboration with the local community. The festival takes place at Kruttverket in Etterstad and has been organized annually since 2021 with contributions from AHO design students.
Through the project I gained valuable insight into how design methodology can be used to create meaningful experiences for others. We began by exploring and mapping the neighborhood through interviews and observation to understand the needs and wishes of the residents. Based on these insights we developed concepts and activities that were inclusive, sustainable and relevant to the local community.
The festival has included everything from puppet theater and saunas to creative workshops, food and music. Some of the most popular installations have been a cocoa machine, a mini soap factory and a quick sketch photo booth, small and playful experiences that at the same time invited reflection and participation.
Futti Krutti is a unique arena for testing and experiencing service design in practice with real users and real needs. It was especially rewarding to see how our work was met with enthusiasm from residents, the festival attracts hundreds of visitors every year and has become a permanent part of the local community.
The project ended with a presentation at AHO Works Awards, where we won the prize for Best Service Design sponsored by NoA Ignite Norway. The award highlighted the importance of empathy, collaboration and user focus in the design process. We were a team of thirty students.
