Interactive Toys and the Design of Play Experiences
Space Race – Interactive Arace game
In this project, my classmate and I developed a physical and interactive space themed game with sound. The project combines mechanical solutions, programming and visual design to create an engaging gameplay experience.
Process
We began with an idea phase where we explored different concepts through sketches and discussions. We eventually decided on a space themed game where players compete against each other in a kind of space race.

Next, we tested mechanisms that could make the game physically interactive, including a motor and a coil that could pull a string. In parallel, we developed the code in MakeCode for Microbit, adding functions such as score tracking and lights.
We built two prototypes, one in cardboard and one in laser cut MDF, to examine how the ideas worked in practice and to understand how we could improve them further.
Final product
The game was constructed using laser cut parts, soldered electronics and programmed functions. We focused on making both the exterior and the interior understandable and user friendly, with clear game rules, visual design and a structured layout.

The result is an interactive game that combines physical movement, technology and play, demonstrating how design and programming can come together to form a cohesive experience.
The game consists of an octagonal arcade-style box and two game controllers.
The controllers communicate through radio messages using micro:bits. Correct button presses earn points, which activate a motor that pulls the spaceship upward along the track.

Sex Education as an Interactive Game
Sex for the First Time – an interactive learning game about sexuality
Sex for the First Time is an engaging and interactive learning game designed to make sexuality education easier and more enjoyable for both teachers and middle school students. The goal is to give students a safe and educational experience that covers key parts of the curriculum, while creating a more relaxed and open learning environment.
We developed two versions of the game, one digital and one physical, allowing schools to choose the solution that suits them best. The digital version includes a printable game stencil and requires only a mobile phone or iPad to play. Through QR codes, students activate interactive tasks and scenarios that make the teaching dynamic and varied.
The game helps reduce pressure on the teacher by presenting the subject matter in a way that minimizes the need for direct and potentially difficult conversations. At the same time, it offers students a safe space for reflection, discussion, and learning, using language and formats that feel relevant and inclusive.
Creative Coding
In Creative Coding, I had the opportunity to explore how programming can be used as a tool for creative visual expression. We worked primarily with JavaScript and p5.js, experimenting with everything from generative design and interactive animations to visual systems that respond to user input.
Throughout the course, I gained a new understanding of how code can function as a form of artistic expression, not only as a tool for functionality but as part of the creative process itself. I also experimented with tools like Hydra, where we coded dynamic audiovisual visuals that reacted to sound. This opened up an entirely new way of working with visual design, where sound, rhythm and visual composition merge in real time.
The course challenged me to think more experimentally and explore what happens when design, technology and artistic methods are combined.
Game Icognito - Game experience in the real world
2 weeks - Student project x5 students - Interaction Design
In this project, we were tasked with developing a game experience in a digital app, where the main storyline would take place in the real world.
We created a concept where the player takes on the role of a spy on a secret mission. Guided by the app, the player follows a predefined route with several checkpoints. At each location, the player must solve tasks and follow clues to progress to the next point.
Throughout the mission, the player collects pieces of a secret code. Once all checkpoints have been visited and the clues correctly interpreted, this code is used to unlock a digital safe in the app. If the player succeeds, they complete the mission and win the game.
The game combines digital technology with physical exploration and offers an engaging, interactive experience that requires both logical thinking and the ability to observe details in the environment.
WEBSITE FOR PONS HEALTH
Commissioned client project
I made a new website for PONS Health in collaboration with Reach Amplified. The project focused on redesigning the interface to create a clearer, more user friendly experience while communicating the brand’s values and services more effectively.
The new website includes expanded information about PONS Health, a blog section, and a range of health tips and resources aimed at making knowledge more accessible for users. The design emphasizes clarity, structure, and intuitive navigation to help visitors easily find relevant content and engage with the platform.
